To See Koalas

05 Oct

Raymond Island has it’s own koala colony.

According to the last official koala count done in May 2013, there are 305 koalas on the island.

This makes it very easy to see a koala in a gum tree.

There is an official koala walk which starts by the Raymond Island ferry terminal.

It is a lovely gentle stroll around the quiet streets of the island.

There are a few tips for spotting koalas in the trees.

1.  Look for other people looking up and taking photos!

2.  Look for fresh droppings on the ground and look up (step aside first!)

3.  Check the Raymond Island facebook page .. we sometimes get reports from other locals about where the koalas are today.
